Sperm donor dad bonds with the kids he never knew he had

Family ties are more than a bit ambiguous for children conceived with the help of a sperm donor. It used to be donors were strictly anonymous, but as more children sought information about their biological parents, a registry was created for the purpose of making life-changing connections. Mark Strassmann meets with Todd Whitehurst, a donor dad, during his reunion with 8 of his 22 children.

omg i never thought of that. Don’t wanna offend anyone but science has proved that consanguineous marriage results into birth defects and set a chain of weakening of human race at its climax. Such children should either marry child conceived of both parents or match and cross check donors if marrying a child born of donor. Banks and fertility clinics should maintain registry which is available to these children and this should be assured by strict regulation/laws known as ‘Rights of Donor Children & preservation of Human Genetic health Act’. Do you agree?

Dulce Ruiz It happens….Its nothing new. They eventually find out. Its already happened a couple times in my family….. smh. but theres many families who go thru this then find out… and half or some don’t want a change… the other half or most of the people immediately break things off because its just gross… but incess is more common than you think…. My nanny/nana(spanish) has this family whose kids shes helped raise other than me and my siblings and those kids parents are cousins. they are not well. they are sick.. the girl and only the girl came out normal but she could keep bleeding out. but is not as bad as her brothers who can all bleed and never stop. Thats why they decided to adopt their last one from a teenager. the kid they adopted looks like their daught too its soo wierd haha the mother is dark and sonehow the baby came out light. i think they have an open adoption because i have actually met the mom. she is young. more like was because shes my age and now im old(enough) and have my own.

Saving/me no… lol. they knew, they stayed married. but they have to adopt because their kids kept dying from bleeding out(which i don’t really know much about it just that the kids are mentally ill). they started adopting because they have lost their first kids(rip). thats all they can do. help teens by taking in their babies so they dont have to raise them in shame. the biological mama comes and helps out to babysit is all she can do. babysit. she is a low key loving bio-mother she just made her mistakes.

I’d rather someone else take care of my kids lmao Spread my genes & do no work. My kind of parenting.

In all seriousness I’d never donate sperm, directly or indirectly. Too many humans the way it is.

+TiMeSpLiT- -TeR My mother and her twin were adopted at age 4. Because they were adopted in the area they were born, the adoptive family knew the birth family but as my mom began liking boys and dating, she was quick to let her mother know so she could tell if there was a familial relationship. I think as long as adoptive/sperm donor/egg donor families are honest with their children, there would not be many problems. However, I am well aware that many will never tell their children the truth so it leaves many in a not so good situation.

+TiMeSpLiT- -TeR Yeah, I can definitely see this being where the problem comes into place. I’m thinking laws will have to change, so that IVF babies will need to show a donor number on the birth certificate somewhere. It won’t prevent all issues, but if parents are up front with their kids, it should prevent most issues.

I find it amazing – many of donor kids have only a mother, usualy they are the only child. Isn’t that amazing for them to find out they have huge “family” and lot of siblings? Well 200 kids is maybe too much, but 22 seems great 🙂

CaneFu That’s still family. It’s like saying your died sister isn’t your sister because you haven’t seen her. In this case they can form relationships with their “died sisters” which is lucky.

+Brianna Gordy today it is not wise to be an sperm donor, because legislation is changing fast and drastically on this matter. Like, if you die, your donor children may inherit and not your more distant relatives. (possiblity in germany)

I loved how he said he loves them as an uncle would. I feel like that’s a great response! He’s not being disrespectful in any way of the parents that did raise them, and yet, he’s not just up and leaving their lives now that he knows who they are and they have met. That’s very sweet!

@mxdanger I just checked with my buddy who’s a hardware specialist at Apple. Apple stopped using Samsung’s cpu about 5 years ago, but Samsung now manufacture Apple’s new oled iphone displays lol, so my comparison still works man.
